1. Our commitment
National Sign Company is committed to making www.nsco1.com accessible to people with disabilities, including blind and low-vision users, deaf and hard-of-hearing users, users with mobility or cognitive disabilities, and users who rely on assistive technology such as screen readers, switch controls, voice control, and screen magnifiers.
Accessibility is a process, not a finish line. We regularly review the site and welcome feedback from our customers and the public on how to improve.
2. Conformance standard
We design and develop this site with the goal of conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice in connection with Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and is widely recognized as the appropriate benchmark for public-facing websites.
3. What we do
- Design with accessibility in mind from the start — including color contrast, type sizing, focus states, and keyboard operability.
- Test with the keyboard alone (no mouse) and verify focus is always visible and logical.
- Test core flows with screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA).
- Use semantic HTML and ARIA only where it adds value.
- Review every new feature against our internal accessibility checklist before it ships.
4. Built-in features
- Skip-friendly navigation: the main heading on every page receives focus before the navigation, so screen-reader users hear the page topic immediately.
- Color & contrast: body text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios. Color is never the only means of conveying information.
- Keyboard support: all interactive elements (buttons, links, form controls, the catalog lightbox, mobile menu) are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Focus visibility: a clear focus indicator appears on every focusable element.
- Resizable text: the layout adapts to browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Alt text: meaningful images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked appropriately.
- Form labels & errors: every form field has a visible label and required-field indication; errors are announced and described in text.
- Reduced motion: animations are subtle and respect
the user’s
prefers-reduced-motionsetting where set. - Dialog/lightbox: the catalog image lightbox traps focus while open and closes on Escape.
5. Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on this site may not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Known issues we are actively working on:
- Catalog scan pages: our product catalog includes scanned pages from our printed catalog. While each scan is selectable via the lightbox and surrounded by descriptive text, the text inside the scanned images is not yet machine-readable. We are in the process of replacing these with native HTML product pages.
- Some PDFs and downloadable files may not yet be fully tagged for screen-reader navigation. If you need an accessible version of any document, please contact us — we will provide one promptly.
6. Feedback & assistance

8. Enforcement procedure
If you have made a request and you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter to:

We’d much rather hear from you first — most issues we can fix within a few days.
